Fringed Friends

I am loving the fringed shoes trend bringing back a 70s trend to A/W 15. This trend is so easy to work as it can be worn both day and night. For day fringing River Island has really concurred the trend (I'm not bias, honest!) with chunky heels and suede pieces it is the perfect place to pick up a new fringed friend for your Autumn wardrobe.

Victoria Beckham SS16

Victoria Beckham launched her latest collection yesterday - her SS16 range and her 15th catwalk show to date. VB is quickly becoming more and more acknowledge in the fashion industry as she has slowly began to win over even the initial harshest critics at her announcement to turn to the fashion industry.

The collection was bursting with bright colours; primary coloured ribbing, floral leather jackets, wide culottes as well as daisy blue tones. From suedette mini skirts to oversized tops and full skirts the collection boasted key summer looks.

Whilst the range was full of bright colours and prints the collection remained completely controlled. VB claims this new infused colour to the collection is down to the fact 'I (she) has done a lot of travelling this year' whilst also stating that her latest collection showed a 'carefree attitude.'
The biggest change from her previous collections is the huge injection of print. Victoria stated that the emphasis on block colours in her previous collection is due to the fact she has 'never really worn a lot of print before as I struggle with it but I try all these clothes on and think we've made it really wearable.'

Another huge talking point from the collection is Beckham's spin on accessories this year, in particular the 'half moon bag.' VB crowns this the 'essential' bag of next season.

Purse Friendly Primark Eyelashes

I am a huge fan of fake eyelashes but they can become expensive to wear on a day to day basis. My latest favourites are the false eyelashes 'sultry' and at just £1 it means you can afford to wear them on a daily basis.
Above: one layer of the sultry lashes

The sultry lashes are my favourite but they also do other types such as 'natural', 'volume' and 'double trouble'. The glue that comes with them is a bit rubbish so I would recommend buying aa big pot of glue from eyeliner if you're a lash addict.

PS double layer the 'sultry' lashes for a night out.

Holiday Blues

It's really late to be posting a holiday blog however I have been so busy with work I haven't had the opportunity too. This drizzley weather is making me experience some serious holiday blues. This year I went to Croatia with my boyfriend and below are some of my favourite photos from my trip.

Kristen Stewart is the new CoCo Chanel

Kristen Stewart is the latest to be casted as a chanel leading lady. Following in the steps of Kiera Knightley, Audrey Tautou and Anna Mouglalis it is now Kirsten’s turn to lead the brand and sep into the infamous shoes of representing Coco Chanel. Kirsten is a huge fan of the French fashion house; regularly attending catwalks and couture collections. She has previously appeared as the face of Chanel’s eyewear collection and was featured on the catwalk in their latest couture show.

Kirsten will star in the latest short film directed by Karl Lagerfeld - the creative directer of Chanel. She will be playing a young version of Gabrielle Chanel.

Once produced, the short film is set to premiere at the fashion house’s next Métiers d’Artsshow on December 1st in Rome. Keep your eyes pealed.

Work Experience at River Island

I am currently just over half way through my two week buying placement at River Island Head Office (Westgate) and I am really enjoying my time with the company. I am working on the mini kids department which is really exciting as the department is only one year old meaning that we can experiment with styles and try out new patterns and fabrics as it lacks the long lying history that other departments such as womenswear have (e.g. yearly bestsellers)

During my placement I have been learning the daily tasks of a Buying Clerk; I have attended fittings in which we try out our samples on a mannequin to see how they fit. Being on a children's department also means we need to be extremely aware of safety precautions such as pockets and draw strings (on hoodies etc) being non functional.

I have also been monitoring and updating my critical path which helps you keep up to date with when products are being shipped, delivered and so on.

The fast paced environment of River Island has meant that every day is different, which makes the job more exciting.

First Look: Kendall and Kylie Jenner for Topshop

Whilst attending their launch the girls both looked incredible debuting looks directly from their collection. Kendall opted for sheer & cropped wide leg trousers whilst Kylie mirrored one of Kim's signature looks; tight bodycon midi with gladiator heels.

The collection is priced at usual Topshop retail prices ranging from £28-£80. Below I have picked out some of my favourite pieces:
Floral Tie Playsuit, £45.00
Tailored Duster Coat, £80.00
Palazzo Trousers, £40.00
(Worn by Kendall at the launch)

Whilst the collection does have some nice pieces for Summer, I feel it lacked the WOW factor after such a build up. What do you think of the Jenner:Topshop collab?
