Millie Mackintosh's New Clothing Range

The much anticipated clothing range by Chelsea girl gone fashionista, Millie Mackintosh, has finally arrived! Millie launched her clothing range last Wednesday (10/09/2014) at London West Bank Gallery. Get your hands on the collection at http://www.millie-mackintosh.com
Millie has always been my favourite Made In Chelsea girl, and has always inspired me in the fashion stakes as she looked impeccable episode after episode.  Since her debut on the hit show Made in Chelsea Millie has gone from strength to strength, following several fashion collaborations (with lipsy and claires), Millie has finally launched her very own fashion range. She says the line is inspired by her favourite pieces from her own wardrobe and each piece is available in sizes 6-16 so there is bound to be something for everyone! She is one of the best dressed celebrities and now it is going to be even easier to get her look. She states I have been working on it for eight months.' 'Usually designers take years before they launch a collection but we wanted to create a capsule line.'We originally only wanted to do 20 pieces but we have ended up with 40 so it has been a bit of a whirlwind.'Well, I think Millie's work has definitely paid off and have already got my eye on some of the pieces from her collection. Millie's collection doesn't look dissimilar to her typical outfit choices and that's because it isn't. 'I wanted the collection to represent me and I created it for myself really. It features a lot of embellishment which I love and we have some faux leather look pants and shorts. After browsing the website I have hand picked my favourite pieces from the collection (below)First up this stunning scoop back jumpsuit caught my eye. Jumpsuits are great for a change from wearing dresses on nights out. This simple piece can be accessorised easily and oozes sophistication. A staple piece, and at £90.00 it seems worth the investment. The piece features slimline trousers with flares and a scoop back.

I also fell in love with this simple patterned shift dress perfect for a night out or special occasion. Take it from night to day with some black tights and chunky boots. £90.00(Also available in pink)

This Animal jersey mini skirt is another favourite of mine. The skirt is adorable I love the peplum hem trend! The cute animal print is fun and this skirt can definitely be dressed up or down. Work it like Millie with an open blouse, blazer and her staple hat. £45.00

This Two Tone Sequin Bomber jacket also stood out for me. Despite the slightly hefty price tag, £250 to be exact, this bomber is perfect for the party season and is sure to add glamour to any outfit. Team with a classic LBD to jazz up your outfit.

The Trusty Turtleneck

All hail the turtle neck knit, your new trustworthy best friend set to see you through A/W14. Although the turtle neck has always been around this A/W it is truly making its debut in the fashion stakes! The turtle neck is quickly becoming this seasons staple piece, perfect for layering as temperatures begin to decrease, and one of the easiest looks to work. Whether you’re layering your turtle neck under a cute piniform to rock school girl chic or whether you’re working a simple turtle neck and high waisted jeans it is essential to get your hands on a turtle neck this Autumn.

A further plus point of the turtleneck is that most are extremely affordable! On the hughstreet, Boohoo is offering a variety of turtlenecks of different thickness (between £8-£10)
My top picks:
Laura Roll Neck Sleeved Top
£8.00
Black
As above - in grey
Hollie Ribbed Roll Neck Top
£10

Stick to staple colours, a charcoal grey and a black are essentials and are guaranteed to go with everything. By sticking to basic colours you can start to build up a staple wardrobe which enables you to mix and match with ease.

Transition Outfits

The transition between seasons is always one of the hardest times to 'get it right' when it comes to knowing what to wear. Personally, I find the transition between Summer to Autumn the most difficult to master, as the shops are full of contradictories: fur jackets to sale bikinis. It is often challenging to dress correctly for the forever changing, and frankly bipolar British weather!

Below I have put together some transitional looks to help inspire you during this time of change.
Outfit One
Clots are huge this A/W, they look great with bare legs but you can take them from Autumn to Winter very simply by teaming them with some black tights! I have teamed mine with a black t-shirt crop, a simple black hat and some chunky heels.

Outfit Two
I am completely in love with this misguided PVC skater, it goes with everything and can be dressed up or down. I am wearing it with an H&M vintage look shirt and my trusty River Island stroppy nude wedged heels (super comfy). I would recommend the skirt to anyone it is so versatile. I am looking forward to wearing it with checked shirts, wooly tights and chunky boots.

Outfit Three
This look is one of my favourites, my trusty gilet is a winter wardrobe staple and works with nearly any outfit. I am wearing it with a zara peplum hem dress and an H&M hat.

Outfit Five
Checks are huge this A/W 14 and are one of my favourite fail safe trends. Check carries you from Autumn to Winter with ease. I have already invested in some check print cigarette trousers and a check pinafore (obsessed!) I have teamed it with a zara high neck crop, a prim ark chain and my fave Aldo (wannabe Celine) bag!

Outfit Six
I love this girly look! The blouse is Primark and the skirt is Missguided. School girl chic is going to be huge this A/W and is so simple to do! Layer old shirts under cute chunky knits as it gets colder.

Fabulous Photoshoots

One of the many roles of  being a fashion intern is to help out with (and in most cases attend) photo-shoots. Last week I was asked to go along to assist a photo shoot in which we would be shooting the A/W fashion for the 'main fashion' section of Fabulous. The shoot was based at studio spaces, a converted night club, in Shadwich (London) and commenced at 9am and finished at around 6.oopm.

My main tasks included unpacking the outfits from their cases and hanging them out in outfit order, as well as steaming the clothes and dressing the models. It was amazing to experience a shoot first hand and to see how all the clothes looked on models.

The models were amazing and completely disproved the stereotype that all models are bitches! I met some lovely girls and exchanged instagrams and numbers with them all to stay in contact. It is essential to  gain as many contacts as you can during your internship.

A/W Trends

Thursday, August 7, 2014

As the fashion world is always one step ahead, I have been handling clothes mainly for A/W 14. I have seen some amazing pieces for next season and after just four days at my internship I have made an endless list of items I cannot wait to get in my wardrobe as soon as they are launched.

The Key trends I have seen so far are listed below:

1) Pastels

Pastels were a HUGE hit this summer and were absolutely everywhere on the catwalk and instantly filtered through to high street stores. By the looks of things, this trend has been carried into Autumn. At fabulous, we have already had in a wide variety of fur coats keeping to the pastel shades as well as some amazing knitwear pieces. From fluffy candy pink jumpers to baby blue fur coats, pastels are here to stay!

2) Metallics
Every A/W metallics seem to make an appearance as a wardrobe staple, and this year is no different. Metallic patterns seem to be dominating however boxy metallic crop tops have been coming in fast as well as printed metallic dresses and gold metallic midis.
On my must buy list is this stunning River Island metallic dress! The fur trim is absolutely stunning, a perfect dress for a party thats bound to get you noticed.

Another piece that caught my eye was this amazing metallic two piece (jacket and short set) I love the pattern, it's so fun and the embellished details add glam.Keep an eye out for this on Missguided.co.uk

3) Chelsea Boots

3) Boots have always been a A/W essential and with so many different styles it is easy to find a pair to suit your tastes. For the transition from summer to autumn a light wear pair of boots is essential, tan/brown goes with everything!
For winter time it's fur fur fur! I was loving the chelsea boots with the fur trim (which to my surprise were from NEW LOOK) and if you are after height theres plenty of choice when it comes to boots with a heel.
My favourite boots I have seen so far were the chelsea boots with the chain detail (ZARA) and I will be purchasing them when they hit stores next season.

4) Coloured Fur

Coloured fur pieces are a new trend for A/W 14. We have had in every colour imaginable from neon fur head bands to baby pink fluffy mittens. Use coloured fur accessory pieces to brighten up those dull winter days. Team your black outfit with a coloured head band for an instant colour pop

The Life of A Fashion Intern

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Yesterday I started my fashion internship for Fabulous magazine in association with the Sun! (04/08/2014) It has always been my aim to do an internship of this nature during my summer holidays, so I had been looking forward to it since I recived the email confirming I had got the job! An internship is essential to helping you get both experience and ultimately a job in your chosen field of work, especially if you are aiming to go into the fashion world (one of the most competitive industries).

This section is used to shoot/ take photos

I will be with Fabulous magazine for a month which I believe will be a perfect amount of time to get to know the ins and outs of working for a fashion company. After just two days I have already learnt so much! The girls are all so friendly and helpful and everybody works as a team, there has even been a bake off so lots of free cake (an extra bonus).

Day One

The first day was spent learning my jobs/ what the internship would include. I met a friend Zoey (another intern) who I instantly got on with  and she helped explain our jobs.
We spent the day mainly researching prices to write up the details of a shoot from the previous week. This was fun as it meant scrolling through websites (aka getting to look at all the new in clothing) to try and locate clothes used in the shoot. The model looked amazing and has made me want all the clothes she wore!

After lunch:
After a little play in the Sun London Bus Photo Booth with Zoey it was back to work. The afternoon was spent adding the credits to the shoot, inc. the details of the make-up artist and photographer. We also managed to do a few returns, this involves returning the clothes from the shoot or other unused samples back to the PR company they are originally from.

Photo Booth fun!

Morning Deliveries
Day Two
Every morning we sort out the deliveries which is total madness! (see picture below) A lot of the time the deliveries are to go straight into the cupboard which means we get to unpack them and see all the new clothes! Deliveries come twice a day (sometimes three) and below is a picture of a standard morning of deliveries, aka Christmas come early.

Day Three
Today we spent the majority of the day sorting out clothes for Pixie Lott's shoot on Friday. The shoot will be 60's theme. Zoey and I picked out anything we thought would suit the theme of the shoot as well as Pixie's style. Lynn (the women styling the shoot) then put outfits together, I have pictured a couple below! Look out for Pixie wearing some of these looks in a Fabulous magazine soon!

Croatia Holiday

I am experiencing serious holiday blues after two weeks away with my boyfriend in Croatia :( I had an amazing time and it was so nice to get away, everybody deserves a good holiday!
I have shared some of my favourite pictures below (I was a big photo whore all holiday)
I have also listed some of my holiday tips after learning the hard way.

KEY TIPS:
- Plan your outfits: This year I tried to combat my overpacking problem! I planned outfits which I thought would be suitable and tried to pack key versatile crop tops that could be used for different outfits.
- Minmal Heels: Heels for me are a holiday necessity but unfortunately many of the summer style heels (wedges/ chunky heels) are extremely heavy. This year I packed two pairs, one nude and one tan (and sneaked a cheeky pair of black heels in my boyfriends bag) and packed matching clutch bags to ensure I had basic matching accessories for each outfit.
- You are what you Eat: It is soooo easy to gain holiday weight which is exactly what you don't need after shedding the pounds to achieve your bikini body. Read my blog post: 10 Ways to reduce weight gain on Holiday for more.
